Nicholaus Case Rice

I am sorry for all my blogger friends who have been waiting for more pictures and blogger information concerning Nicholaus' birth.
My beautiful promise was born on August 13th, 2008. He did not come when anticipated and I was pretty discouraged. I had counted on getting what I wanted. Funny God has better and different ideas. I went into labor on Thursday August 7th, and felt that my little one would definitely arrive in my time frame. On my due date which was August 9th My doctor stated that I was not even dialated but that was beginning to efface. By Tuesday, August 12th I was tired and utterly disappointed. I went to the doctor to get an update and was told that I was only one centimeter dialated and about forty percent effaced. I would only be able to go into the hospital when I was three centimeters dialated or my water broke. I had been struggling with God and control for the previous few days and had begun to realize that God would do the helping but that I truly had to turn my will over to him. While at the doctor's office we had an ultrasound and were told that Nicholaus would be around 11 lbs and that I should opt for a c-section. We decided to induce labor the following day at 6:30 am. When I went home Tuesday afternoon I prayed and cried and tried to sleep that afternoon preparing for the following day. I awoke around 4 pm and as I got up my water broke and so Ray and I proceeded to the hospital excited that we might see our little one soon. Upon reaching the hospital I was admitted and put in a room and then induced. I was told that I had to reach 4 centimeters to get my epidural and was at that time a two. Knowing that I was progressing was a relief but the size of the baby held a somber note over both my husband and my head. I knew in my heart that everything that was happening was upto God and so I relaxed and submitted to the labor process.
By August 13th around 12:30 Pm my doctor came and checked on me. I had only progressed to 6 centimeters. I had two scares the previous night when my blood pressure had dropped drastically causing the baby's heartrate to plummet. Once labor increased in pressure the baby's heart rate began to drop again and so with the baby's weight being an issue and not progressing well and the drop in heart rate a c-section was decided. With in a few minutes I was prepped and ready to deliver. I think that this was the most frightening place to be actually. Not knowing what to expect and realizing that God had removed not just some but all of my control freaked me out. I began to pray...
At 1:53 pm Nicholaus Case Rice was born and I have never even with the birth of two beautiful awesome girls experienced the feelings and thankfulness that I did in that moment.
God you are so awesome and I bow to your control and your incredible majesty. You alone reign. Thank you for this wonderful gift.
I will be posting more pictures. The ones I am posting now are from my cell phone and so the quality is not the best but there will be more believe me.
Love you all.
